ACADEMICS

At Buckswood we are all on a learning journey, teachers, ancillary staff, scholars and managers alike. We see education as a scaffold of support for every student’s life progress and concerns can be tracked and individual pathways formed. We believe in a ‘learner centered’ approach to learning and the promotion of critical and creative thinking.

Academic life at Buckswood is well structured. Learners need structure; it gives them a sense of security, organisation and support. However, we challenge students to challenge themselves, also identifying strengths they didn’t know they had, builds their confidence and it is this confidence that is the key to their success in life. Buckswood has created an environment where everyone feels at home and is comfortable to raise their hand and ask questions; we want every student to be curious and approach learning as a journey of discovery.

A Buckswood education seeks to educate the whole child, our international family of nations widens every student’s horizons and developing within them a global understanding. We consider the written curriculum and planning to be the mainstay of who we are. Successful learning takes place when the taught curriculum aligns with the intention of the written curriculum. Curriculum strategy is an important part of our quest to learn along side our students
