DIGITAL LITERACY
At Buckswood, digital literacy is not just about learning to use technology — it is about learning to create, communicate, and innovate with it. We prepare our students to thrive in a modern digital world by developing practical skills alongside confident, responsible, and creative use of technology.
Across the school, students learn to research effectively, present information clearly, collaborate online, and think critically about the media they consume. These skills are naturally built into lessons, but also extend into clubs, enrichment activities, and real-world projects.
Buckswood Media Production Studio
This year we are launching the Buckswood Media Production Studio, a creative hub that brings our digital initiatives together. Here, students will be able to produce:
- Podcasts and interviews
- Short films and event highlights
- Photography and digital design projects
- Media content for school platforms and celebrations
The studio will also help us showcase student creativity more effectively, sharing regular updates, features, and student-led content.
Our Digital Programmes
Esports Development
With strong student interest and tournaments ahead, Esports is becoming an exciting new dimension of school life — promoting strategy, teamwork, and positive digital engagement.
Sixth Form Digital Portfolios
L6 students are building professional websites to present their interests, talents, academic progress, and future aspirations — valuable for university admissions and early career development.
Coding & Game Design
Our Coding Club is designing original games and preparing to enter the ISA Coding Competition, developing skills in programming, problem-solving, and creative design.
AI in the Curriculum
At Key Stage 3, students are introduced to Artificial Intelligence — exploring both its benefits and its ethical challenges. They learn how AI is used in fields such as medicine and business, while also understanding privacy, data protection, and responsible use. This balanced approach ensures students appreciate both innovation and social impact.
Our Aim
Through these initiatives, Buckswood students learn not just to use technology — but to lead, create, and contribute in a digital world. Every student leaves Buckswood confident, capable, and ready to succeed in the future they choose.
