Celebrating Exam Success: A Hallmark of Achievement

At Buckswood, examination results represent an important part of each student’s educational journey. As a non-selective international school, our cohorts include students with a wide range of prior attainment, English-language proficiency and educational backgrounds. Alongside our wider commitment to character, creativity and confidence, we maintain high academic expectations and provide individual support to help every student make progress and achieve their potential.

We are proud to celebrate the achievements of our GCSE, A Level and International Baccalaureate students in 2026.

At GCSE, 65.3% of the school’s 196 recorded examination outcomes were awarded at grades 9–4, with 14.8% at grades 9–7. There were particular areas of strength across the curriculum. In Mathematics, 74.1% of grades were at 9–4 and 31% at 9–7, compared with national figures of 71.8% and 22.3% respectively. English Literature achieved 75% at grades 9–4, compared with 73.4% nationally. Science achieved 64.2% at grades 9–4, against a broad national comparator of 58.1%. These outcomes demonstrate strong performance in a number of key academic subjects.

At A Level, the 2026 cohort comprised 32 students across 94 subject entries. 18.1% of grades were awarded at A*–A, while 33% were awarded at A*–B. The overall A*–E pass rate was 86.2%.

Our International Baccalaureate Diploma students also achieved encouraging outcomes. The school recorded an IB Diploma award rate of 85.7%, above the worldwide rate of 82.6%. The average Diploma score was 30.14 points, compared with a worldwide mean of 30.88, with three students achieving totals above the worldwide average and the highest individual score reaching 37 points.

These results reflect both the achievements of our students and the work of our teaching staff in supporting a diverse international community. Examination outcomes are reviewed carefully alongside internal assessment, prior-attainment information and aspirational student targets so that strengths can be celebrated and areas for improvement identified. This process forms part of our continuing commitment to ensuring that every Buckswood student receives the support, challenge and guidance needed to progress successfully.
