LAMDA

LAMDA at Buckswood School

At Buckswood, students have the opportunity to take LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) examinations, a prestigious qualification that builds confidence, creativity and exceptional communication skills.

Currently delivered by Ms Ansar, our Head of Drama, LAMDA lessons benefit from expert guidance and a strong foundation in performance training.

Students may choose to enter Acting examinations either as solo performers or in pairs, developing their performance technique, characterisation and stage presence. LAMDA examinations are also available in Performing Verse and Prose, enabling students to explore a wide range of literary texts while strengthening vocal delivery, interpretation and expressive performance skills.

For those wishing to enhance their public speaking and presentation abilities, LAMDA Communication examinations can be taken either as a solo candidate or within a group setting. These qualifications help students refine clarity, projection, structure and persuasive speaking — skills that support success across the curriculum and beyond.

To further enrich their preparation, students are given the opportunity to perform at the Hastings Music Festival. This provides invaluable performance experience and a supportive platform to build confidence ahead of their examinations.

LAMDA lessons are delivered in structured blocks of 10 sessions, allowing students to make consistent progress and feel fully prepared for their exams.

These qualifications not only nurture talent and self-assurance but also offer UCAS points at higher grades, supporting future academic and career pathways.
