2 Year GCSE Course (Form 4 and Form 5)
When choosing option subjects, students must take into account their own academic strengths and weaknesses and also possible future career paths. It is expected that they discuss possible choices with their families, agencies, sales representatives, and the academic principal at mshaw@buckswood.co.uk.
All students will take 3 core subjects (English Language or English Literature, Combined Science, and Mathematics) and must choose 3 subjects from the 3 blocks, one in each block. They cannot choose two subjects from the same block.
Spanish native speakers cannot choose Spanish in the blocks, as that subject is Spanish as a second language. French native speakers cannot choose French in the blocks, as that subject is French as a second language. Students interested in Spanish and French as GCSE second language need to have some minimum knowledge of the language, as these subjects are not for beginners.
Own Language: For international students, we strongly encourage students to select their native language where a GCSE examination is available. If you have doubts, please contact your sales representative, and we will be able to advise you. Their native language can be used to validate qualifications and also be used as an extra qualification for university applications, etc. To select your native language and sign up for lessons, please fill out the form here: Language Lessons.
In addition to studying subjects at GCSE/IGCSE, all students will have two lessons per week of sports instruction.
Learning Support (Personal Education Needs [PEN]) is also available at an extra cost. PEN lessons. Option choices should be submitted to the school as soon as possible, ideally before 1st August 2024, in order to guarantee your first choice of subjects.
The school reserves the right not to offer a subject if there is insufficient demand, and these options may be subject to change. DofE/Extra English and Maths is available only for UK students in Form 5.
