DIGITAL LITERACY

At Buckswood, we are committed to ensuring our students are fluent in the digital language of the 21st century. Our Digital Literacy strategy is designed to empower students with the skills they need to navigate the digital world confidently and ethically. Our Digital Literacy strategy is led by Mrs Garahanova.

AI in the curriculum

Incorporating Artificial Intelligence into our Key Stage 3 ICT curriculum, we offer students a deep dive into both the benefits and potential harms associated with AI technologies. Students explore how AI can be leveraged to improve daily life, enhance medical diagnostics, streamline business operations, and more. Simultaneously, they are taught to recognise and mitigate the ethical challenges and privacy concerns that come with these advancements. This balanced approach ensures they not only understand AI technology but also appreciate its impact on society.

Digital Literacy Workshops

To further enhance our students’ digital skills, we run specialised workshops that focus on the practical applications of the Microsoft suite that all Buckswood students have access to, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams. These workshops are designed to help students improve their efficiency and productivity, equipping them with the knowledge to utilise these tools for academic and personal projects.

Our Digital Literacy strategy aims not only to educate but also to inspire our students to become innovators and leaders in the digital age. By providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge, we prepare them for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in an increasingly digital world.
