At Buckswood, we firmly believe education does not and should not stop at the classroom door but instead it should be a journey that stretches across boundaries. Rooted in our 12 Pillars, Adventure, Travel and Internationalism are at the heart of who we are. We believe that real learning comes from real experiences, and the best way to understand the world is to explore it.

In order to facilitate this, every half-term, our students have the opportunity to travel and discover new places. Over the years, we’ve visited Thailand, India, Paris, Scotland, Singapore, Georgia, and Saudi Arabia, with many more destinations planned for the future. These trips give our students the chance to experience new cultures and see the world from a new perspective.

One of the highlights of our travel programme is the annual summer charity trip to Eswatini. Each year, a group of students travel to the Kingdom to take part in various community projects, helping in local schools, running activities for children, and supporting local initiatives. It’s an unforgettable experience that teaches empathy, teamwork, and the importance of giving back. Students return with a deeper understanding of the world and the impact they can have on it.

But here’s the key takeaway – these adventures are not just holidays but are also powerful learning experiences. Our students don’t just read about different traditions in their textbooks or watch documentaries on world cultures; they live them. They try new cuisines, learn local dances, visit historical landmarks, and, most importantly, connect with people from diverse backgrounds.

As an international school with students and staff from over 50 countries, we know how important it is to learn how to live and work alongside people from different backgrounds. Through these trips, our students learn how to navigate new environments, communicate across cultures, and appreciate the incredible diversity of the world we live in.

We don’t just prepare our students for exams, we prepare them for life after school. And through every journey, every laugh, and every shared adventure, they learn that the world truly is their classroom.
