Language Learning at Buckswood

At Buckswood, we believe that language learning is fundamental to the cultural development of our pupils. We teach French and Spanish as part of the school curriculum, from beginner level to GCE. Extracurricular language lessons offered are German, Italian, Russian, Portuguese, Arabic, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Japanese from beginner to GCE Advanced level. Classes are organised as group or individual lessons. Buckswood pupils also have access to our exciting new online language learning resource, in association with Rosetta Stone, which supports the language lessons they are already taking and offers them a further twenty languages up to intermediate level. Pupils can study these languages at their own pace with this user-friendly engaging and fun resource. 
Sixth Form Buckswood pupils can also take advantage of study or work placements. These are arranged on an individual basis, in the target country, during school holidays.
This year, 2 week-long intensive study trips are already planned for GCSE students In both Spain and France.

BUCKSWOOD LANGUAGE ACADEMY

From the beginning of the Spring Term, Buckwood Language Academy will open its doors to the public.
Languages on offer are: French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Mandarin, Cantonese, Dutch, Japanese and Polish.
We can provide the following courses:
Let’s play with: French, Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic and Russian
(These courses are suitable for young learners from 6-10yrs)
Parent and Child classes in all above languages
Holiday language courses in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and German (other languages can be arranged, on request)
Language for Business These intensive courses can be arranged in any language, on a one-to-one or group basis, according to client needs.
GCSE/A level tutorial top up courses can be provided in any language, on request.

ALL LANGUAGE COURSES ARE SUPPORTED, (up to intermediate level) BY ONLINE MATERIALS, IN ASSOCIATION WITH ROSETTA STONE.

You will be asked for your Username and Password. For most of you the Username is the SAME as the Username that you use to log on to the school network.

If your Username is less than 6 letters you must make it up to 6 with the letter x. RosettaStone will only accept a Username of 6 letters or more.
e.g. orrw for RosettaStone it must be orrwxx
luq for RosettaStone it must be luqxxx

For everybody the Password for RosettaStone is the SAME password that you use to log on to the school network.
