Young Enterprise is the UK’s largest business and enterprise education charity. Every year they help 250,000 young people learn about business and the world of work under the guidance of volunteers from 3,500 companies. Young Enterprise run various classroom-based or company-based programmes for students from the age of 12 to 19.

These programmes include:

  • Enterprise in Action
  • Personal Economics
  • Industry Master-class

Buckswood School entered the Company Programme and this meant students aged 15+ had to set- up and run their own company over the course of one academic year. The students had to raise finance, develop a product, promote the company, sell the products to the public and manage the finances.Goods offered for sale by the company were Christmas themed goods in the first Trade Fair and goods made on the streets of Swaziland in the second Trade Fair – AUTHENTIC AFRICAN ARTIFACTS. The team sell their products at school events such as Sports and Speech Day, Open Days and Christmas Market”.

Buckswood School’s Young Enterprise team decided to name their company The Broomham Trading Co., after the name of the main school house at Buckswood.
