The Academy visited Fulham FC today for a special day of training at the Fulham Academy as well as match tickets to watch Manchester City v Fulham. A chance for the boys to see just how good Carlos Tevez actually is. The day started as early as 6.30am as we met our coach driver at school. Everyone made it out of bed on time with the exception of Marius Grimm who wanted a 10 minute lie in! We made our way up to Motspur Park the first team training ground of Fulham FC and after a nutrition stop in Kingston the boys were shown to the changing area. After changing into Buckswood training kit we were introduced to our coach for the morning who recognised our academy director Jim Colston. He worked with Jim as a youth player at Gillingham FC 10 years ago!
Training was a fun warm up to blow away the cobwebs and then several different drills based on passing and movement, the boys did very well and impressed their coach who made comment on Daiki and Marius's ability levels. We passed the ball very well and all played with a smile. We finished the session with a shooting session where Daniyar through himself all over the grass. The morning finished with small sided games in different sized goals against similar opposition. Buckswood played some fantastic pass and move football and scored a few goals in the process.
After a shower and lunch we boarded the coach for Craven Cottage and the long awaited fixture between Fulham and Man City. The boys were treated to a Carlos Tevez masterclass as the little Argentinian ran the show and scored a superb solo goal in the process as City won the game 2-1 to keep up the pressure at the top of the premiership.
We were once again complimented on our discipline and all of the boys were very grateful for the opportunity. At the time of writing this report of the day the whole coach is fast asleep as the lads gave everything.
