Eating and dining are such an important part of life and an important part of the educational process.
We have a family style dining room service, where students sit formally for each meal. On each table there are 12 pupils with a head of table who is in change of serving the food and each table has a waiter for the day. The food is brought to the tables by the chefs and is cleared away at the end by them. There is no cafeteria style dining in the school.
The food is varied and the school managers eat exactly the same, meals as the students.
The school does not have a fat fryer.
No pork is served
Special dietary requirements are catered for.
THE SCHOOL DINING ROOM
Jackets to be worn during meals (breakfast & lunch).
Do offer the condiments and water to your head of table first.
If there is an adult on your table, wait until you are invited to start.
Do not talk with your mouth full.
Do not stretch across the table – ask your neighbour to pass the item to you.
Do keep the level of noise to a reasonable level.
Do not use your fork as a shovel.
Do not spread ketchup etc. all over your meal. Place it on the side of your plate – otherwise it could be thought of as an insult to the cook.
Do not lean on the table.
Remember that a thank you to those who prepare and serve your meals costs nothing.
