Life in the Junior School has been very much a transitionary period under the watchful guidance and tutelage of its head, Mr Cassidy. Life in Forms IV and V becomes a little tougher academically because of the immediacy of public exams, in the form of the UK's first set of common benchmark tests -GCSEs. Students choose some of their GCSEs but everyone follows a two year programme with the core subjects at the heart of the curriculum: Mathematics; English Language; Science; Business; History and Geography. The demands of the curriculum increase into Form V with the volume of work expected and indeed with the quality now wanted from exam boards and teachers. All Buckswood students should be aiming for as higher grades as possible. Form V form tutors and the Head of Form V, Mr Field , monitor progress and performance and provide support and guidance with regard to the next step - Life after GCSEs, which invariably means Buckswood's Sixth Form
and an A Level programme.
