MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT
Many years ago, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I graduated from Exeter University with an honours degree in Mathematics, a subject I have always found fascinating and exciting. I also gained my Post Graduate Certificate in Education there. Since then I have been teaching maths in a variety of secondary schools for over 30 years. I was a Head of Department for 7 years but went
part-time when my Mum started to need looking after.
I have also done proof-reading for an educational publisher, and recently became an author when I was commissioned to contribute to a new A-Level Maths Course Companion.
I love doing puzzles and crosswords and enjoy reading, particularly crime and historical novels. Friends say I should get out more! I’m very interested in music – I play the piano (badly) and sing alto in a small Madrigal choir and in my church band. I am a committed Christian and attend a Baptist church, but am also involved in the ecumenical work of Churches Together. From time to time I take a group of singers round to some rest homes to conduct a short service for the residents.
