Girls Games is an area that is up and coming in Buckswood, with many sports and activities on offer both in the P.E classes and in Extra Curricular
.
At the moment that main girls sports are Netball and Hockey. All girls take part in these sports in P.E with squads being offered at every age level. We have many fixtures arranged against local schools in both of these sports, for the more competitive girls, and have achieved some great results in this half term in both. Our Yr 10 and 11 girls have recently played Netball matches against St Leonard's Academy, both of which we won, adding to our total of 4 games played, 3 wins and 1 loss.
Our Hockey girls are also on the up, with our 1st XI facing some very strong competition from local schools but doing very well and becoming a well organised and confident team.
If Hockey and Netball is not quite your thing then we also offer Football, Dance and Cross Country, as well as Tennis all through the Autumn and Winter months. Not only do we play other schools but also host events right here at Buckswood, with a Cross Country meet that parents are welcome to attend. In fact parents are welcome to attend all our matches and we would encourage you to see just how dedicated and talented our girls teams are
Our professional and expert staff have all got a wealth of experience in their specific sports, ensuring the girls are given the highest standards of coaching possible for the girls to achieve to the best of their abilities.
After Easter we then offer the more seasonal sports of Rounders and Athletics. Again the girls take part in P.E in these activities with the offer of squads in both for the more competitive students. There are many Rounders fixtures arranged for all age groups, and with regard to Athletics, we take part in a competition in Hurstpierpoint. With a former Olympic athlete as our coach you can be sure the girls are getting the right coaching to help them to succeed.
With all the sports an Inter House competition os also offered every term, to allow all girls to compete for their houses, which keeps the spirit of competition alive in a more relaxed environment. These competitions are very well represented with many girls willing to do their best to earn their house vital points towards the final total.
All in all, girls games in Buckswood is growing from strength to strength, and it is down to the attitude and dedication on the girls, the staff and the parents. Their are many opportunities for the girls to represent the school or their house, giving them a sense of achievement and pride in knowing that they contributed to their school.
