1. FIRST DAY
Please arrive for 8.30am. The day will start with Assembly, General Orientation and an explanation of the timetable etc. Students will need their pencil case, but no sports equipment on the first day.

2. START TIMES
The school day starts at 8.45 am and pupils should be dropped off at the front door of the main house for 8.30am. If a pupil is unable to attend school, please phone 01424 813813 before 9.30 a.m.

3. ASSEMBLIES
Assemblies are held on Monday and Friday. They are compulsory for all pupils. If missed pupils will receive an automatic Headmaster’s Detention.

4. ACADEMIC UPDATES
We hold academic Parents’ Evenings once a term, and you will be advised of the date beforehand. We also send updates of pupils’ progress at the end of each Assessment Week (3 per term).

5. NEWSLETTERS
We send a weekly newsletter to all parents to keep them informed of current events. These are primarily designed to be included with the boarder’s letters home, but we send them home to day student’s parents as well.

6. LOCKERS
All pupils are provided with their own lockable lockers. These are found around the school and you will be shown where to find yours. Please bring a padlock.

7. BAGS
No rucksacks or plastic bags are to be used. School bags are available from Matron or Wards. Please use your own sports bags.

8. UNIFORM
Full and correct uniform should be worn at all times, including sports sessions. Top buttons and ties should be done up. Please name tag all uniform and day pupils are reminded that their uniform is their responsibility. The ‘Lost and Found’ box can be found in the Sports Office.

9. EVENING PICK UP
Pupils can be collected from their Prep room, after 5.40pm. If you are going to be later than 6.15pm picking up, please let the office know. Students are welcome to stay to supper at 6.30 if necessary – no need for parents to rush back from that trip or meeting!

10. SIGNING OUT
Please remember at the end of the day (or if you have to take your child off site during the day) to sign out using the book in reception.

11. SLEEP OVERS
If you would like your child to sleep over or stay later after school, this is not a problem. Please do let the office know giving as much advance notice as possible. We do not make a charge for this but perhaps a present to the dorm (sweets, home made cakes etc) would be nice!?

12. PREP
A minimum of 40 minutes of prep per subject is set with usually 3 subjects per night. The first hour is silent prep with the Form Tutor, with the remaining time until 5.40 in their form room. Prep diaries are kept daily with teachers initialling work set.

13. DETENTIONS
If your child receives a detention then the school will notify you one day in advance. This will take place between 5.05pm – 6.30pm.

14. LAPTOPS / PHONES / STATIONERY
Students are reminded that all Phones and Laptops are their responsibility. Phones should be turned off during school hours. Laptops can be handed into the Staff Room during lesson times. All students should have a fountain pen, and other stationery can be obtained from the Ottakas bookshop if required. Please do not bring Ipods in to school.

15. PERMISSION FORMS
If you would like to take additional lessons (Languages, Music, Horse Riding etc) and haven’t already filled in a Permission Form, please ask for one.

16. SCHOOL BUS
We have 2 school buses. One runs in to Hastings and the other in to Rye and surrounding area. If you would like to use either of the buses or would like to know more about the routes they take please ask.
