Barcelona Trip
Early Morning start on Sunday the 21st October. One day later than planned because the England Rugby team decided to make the Final. No ‘plane, train or Superman could get us to Paris on Saturday evening.
After a smooth ferry crossing to France and a 3-hour trip to Paris we arrived to see the Arc de Triomphe. This was too much for Randy, so he decided that he was going to eat some Traditional French food, something you can’t get any where in the world “McDonald’s”. Well after waiting 30 minutes we went off to the Eiffel Tower to take a few photo 'opportunities'.
A night’s sleep in Paris, a later than expected start and we were off to Barcelona. And, we were still going to Barcelona and when I looked at my watch . . . we were still travelling to Barcelona. A very long trip!
After getting everyone into bed, it felt like we had just closed our eyes when we were awake again.
Instructions in the morning, a meeting place for lunch discussed and in groups people went to see different attractions. Mr Sutton had arrived and with Juniors in tow off to The Sagrada Familia Church, Gaudi’s masterpiece which has been under construction since 1882. DO NOT DO THE TOUR. Just a construction site inside and outside. But a true masterpiece.
After a few ‘photo opportunities, off to lunch. We continued on to the port area and a trip around the harbour on a boat. On the other side of Barcelona Mr Peter and Mr Rens were showing a group the Camp Nou Stadium. A long day ended at our next meeting point “Subways“ in La Rambla.
Two days in Barcelona enough to soak up the atmosphere and move on to the Costa Brava. A very quiet seaside village, the perfect place to rest before the next busy Term.
Good food and many touristy shops. The weather did not play its part but a welcome break anyway. The Juniors went karting and had loads of fun. Some of the students had a race or two (still think they are Formula One prospects). Majaha was very good and could possibly be the best driver on tour. And on the Subject our Drivers Kevin & Pauline were fantastic.
After a long safe trip back everyone was ready . . . for another half term break!
